| 2004-05-17/9:50 p.m. so here i am, a new woman...haha, yeah right. however i did graduate on friday. as phoebe would say, "yay me!" poor sean had to deal with me on thursday night when i freaked out, which didn't surprise me because i knew i would at some point. i was trying so hard to keep it together, but it's when you try the hardest that you lose it the most. it's bad enough that i cry pretty much on a daily basis because i just miss her so freakin much, but on special occasions or when i realize that she's two for two for missing my graduations, it all builds up and comes pouring out at the most inopportune times. but i guess it was good that i got it out the night before so that i could hold it together in public on friday. graduation itself was pretty good. the weather was nice, but it could have been a few degrees cooler. when you're sitting outside in a black cap and gown for three hours in 85+ degree weather, it gets a lil sweaty and gross. but i'd rather have had hot weather than rain. the ceremonies weren't too tedious and it was a great feeling to hear my name and walk across the podium to get my diploma holder (albeit empty, but still). a couple of my favority r/t/f professors came up to me afterwards and congratulated me on my achievements and said how they enjoyed having me in class which made me feel good. one of the things i do like about rowan is that it isn't a HUGE school where you're just a number. yeah it sucks when you're late to class and the professor knows just who you are and marks you for being late. but it's a good feeling to have your professors know your name and know that you could go back to them at any time for advice or for a recommendation or anything. so anyway, i finally did it! i got out of Rowan with summa cum laude honors and a degree. and if i do say so myself, i'm proud of me :) that night, me and the family went out to dinner in philly. we went to this amazingly good restaurant right near Penn's Landing on the waterfront. the scenery was enjoyable and the food was delish. they had this lava cake dessert thinger that you have to order when you order dinner because they make it from scratch and it takes a half an hour preparation time. omg, hands down, one of the top five desserts i've ever had. it was a very loverly evening. i pretty much just chilled out this weekend. i tried going to the beach on saturday. well i did go, however, it took me two and a half hours to get there because they're doing road work on the LBI bridge and you have to merge into one lane. well with saturday traffic, it took awhile. so i finally get there, i'm so excited to just chill on the beach, and it's freezing!!! i know, it was so hot everywhere else on saturday, but it was really windy on the beach and i was there for maybe an hour before i finally packed up and left because i kept getting the goosebumps! i did however manage to get some funky tan lines on my right side because i had the top down on my car on the way there and the sun was beating down on my right side while i was sitting in traffic. oh well, that just means more beach time to try and even them out! lol. so i stopped by my dad's house on the way home and helped him out a bit. did some cleaning and straightening up, took out the trash, did the dishes, etc. it was tedious and hot as hell, but i gotta take care of him when i can because he needs all the help he can get. even though it wasn't the ideal way to spend the day, i know he really appreciated it, so that made me feel good. sunday i just layed around for most of the day and relaxed! then i went to sean's house for dinner and dessert to celebrate his uncle's birthday. oh man, we had homemade strawberry shortcake. it was so good. :) then we all headed over to liberty lakes (and theresa met us there!) to play some mini-golf. that was fun, especially because my boyfriend, aka trey (he's sean's adorable lil three year old cousin who loves me and who i want to take home with me!), asked me to be on his team :) hehe, he's so cute. it was quite an enjoyable day. and then today i had to go back to work, which surprisingly, didn't suck all that bad. sometimes when i haven't been there in awhile, it's so annoying when i go back, but today, i just jumped right back in and finished some projects. i'm sure after working all this week, i'll be singing a different tune, but at least it wasn't too bad to start back. and i'm changing my status this week to full-time which means i get benefits!!! woohoo! i forget what it's like to only have to pay copays at the doctors and pharmacies. it should be nice. oh and my day was also brightened by the fact that michele gave me a card at work and when i opened it up, like twenty of the people i work with had signed it! i mean they all knew i was graduating (because i wrote it on the store calendar when i asked for off! lol.) but still, it was so sweet of them all to think of me and write a lil note of congratulations. basically, it's just nice to know that the people you work with day in and day out actually care about you and don't just think of you as their coworker :). so anyway, now i'm just wasting some time because nothing good is on tv tonight. i watched the american idol special, and that was pretty good. and then i went to try and do my laundry, but the machine that you use to put money on your card was out of order! grrr. so then i was sitting down to watch tv again, and that stupid show the swan was on. and i watched it for like two minutes before i had to turn it off and find something more constructive to do. it's so annoying. well i think i've wrote enough for one entry. i haven't written in here like this in forever, but when you have nothing better to do, it takes up a few minutes. alright, well i'm gonna go catch up on my People magazines and then call it a night. xoxo. :) p.s. oh! i forgot to add that jen called me on saturday. i'm sitting on the beach and my phone rings with an "unavailable ID" which i don't usually answer. but for some reason, i did and it was jen, calling from a phone booth in PARIS!!! it was weird talking to her knowing that she's all in France and i was sitting at LBI, lol. we only talked for like two minutes because she was using a phone card, but she said she saw the eiffel tower and the mona lisa and that she was having a great time over there, so that's awesome! i can't wait til she gets back so i can see all the pics and video she took. okay, goodnight for real this time :).
